Barbados’ ‘Every Bloomin’ Pot’ to attend Chelsea Flower Show

BHS will be paying tribute to the traditional art of pottery using locally made clay soil pots to display the beauty of flowers and foliage.

“One lesson we have learned over the past few years is that tradition will have a place in any modern lifestyle. Here we are showcasing a traditional art of pottery that goes back to a Barbados 1886 industry, using raw and glazed pots to create a masterpiece that can be used in any setting to stage the beauty of flora and foliage.

The backdrop will feature the scenic rugged range of hills located in Chalky Mount, the Scotland District, which is where the raw clay is found to create these beautifully made decorative and functional signature terracotta pots. Highlighted are some of the various pieces of tall 4ft vessels, the traditional handmade monkey jar with spout, clay bowls and vases filled with blooms of anthuriums, orchids, various ginger lilies, torch, Strelitzia, heliconia and complimented with foliage of ferns draping some of the vases, dracaena standing tall and stately, cordyline for a pop of color and contrast to the terracotta and bold pink, green and white to compliment the glazed vases. The combinations are beautifully selected and displayed in a practical and breathtaking way with ease of functionality.

A Barbadian Born / British Stand-up Comedian Mr. Nico Yearwood has been invited to visit our booth to support the Barbados Horticultural Society (BHS) at their RHS Chelsea Flower Show exhibit. Nico delivers a unique blend of Caribbean Flavored comedy. His stories are generally about growing up in Barbados, his life in London and topical global stories of the day. His Mom Mrs. Mavis Yearwood is an avid gardener and lifetime member of the BHS and is a keen supporter and volunteer at many of the BHS events. Nico will be mixing and mingling with guests and engaging in light humor by way of paying Homage to his mom.
