Since early 2013 Twitter has allowed US businesses to access their new self-serve ads, leaving the rest of the us wondering if we would ever get news of a worldwide roll out. Well, good news folks – Twitter has just announced that it is to introduce self-serve ads for small and medium sized businesses in three countries outside the US. [su_quote style=”default”]From this week onward, businesses in Ireland, the UK and Canada will be able to access this service and begin to set up and purchase promoted ads.[/su_quote]

At the beginning of this month Twitter became a publicly listed company and began trading shares, meaning that it was only a matter of time before they needed to begin expanding revenue within the corporation. Twitter have said that it intends to eventually roll out the self-serve programme around the world.

So, what does this news mean for you?

Put simply, you can now pay to reach a larger audience on Twitter – an audience that are specifically targeted by you and that match the demographics of your average customer. Twitter may have taken their time with this roll out, but, it is clear that they have been taking this time to create an advertising offering which ticks all the boxes.
