What did we do this month ?

May was busy month for the TravelMedia.ie team, packed with exciting events and experiences. Here’s a roundup of what we were up to:

MOSI X ICAP Launch Event

We kicked off the month with the opening of the latest exhibition at The Museum of Style Icons, Newbridge Silverware, in collaboration with the Irish Costume Archive Project (ICAP). This exhibition, featuring iconic costumes from the Irish silver screen, opened on May 1st, 2024. Kia, Darragh, Michael, and Sophie were onsite to host content creators from across Ireland, giving them an exclusive first look at the stunning displays.

Valencia Press Trip

Colm led a group of Irish press on a trip to Valencia. Day 1 included a walking tour of the old town, lunch at Only YOU Hotel Valencia, a guided tour of the Modern Art Center Hortensia Herrero, and a visit to Saint Nicolas Church, often referred to as the Valencian Sistine Chapel. The day concluded with a delightful tapas meal at Mi Cub restaurant. The following days were filled with highlights such as cycling through Turia Gardens, visiting the City of Arts and Sciences, exploring the Oceanogràfic, experiencing a paella cooking session in El Cabanyal, and enjoying a boat trip around Albufera Natural Park. A Huge thanks to Eva Fernandez, Miguel Angel Perez, and the team at Visit Valencia for organizing such a wonderful trip.

Darkness Into Light

Susan, Sophie, and Michael participated in the annual Darkness Into Light walk in their respective parts of Dublin on May 11th, raising funds for Pieta House. This event, which takes place at dawn, brings people together to walk from darkness into light, symbolizing hope and support for those affected by suicide and self-harm.

Western Mass Dr. Seuss Event

On May 7th, the whole team attended a colorful and fun-filled evening hosted by Western Massachusetts at Bewley’s Café on Dublin’s Grafton Street. The event highlighted the attractions of Western Mass, including The Amazing World of Dr. Seuss Museum, Yankee Candle Village, and the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. The evening’s activity involved painting a Dr. Seuss hat on a jute bag, making for a creative and enjoyable experience.

AR/VR Innovate Conference

Sophie and Susan attended the ARVR Innovate conference at the RDS in Dublin. This event, dedicated to augmented and virtual reality, is Ireland’s premier AR/VR conference and one of the top events of its kind globally. It provided a platform for professionals to explore the latest innovations and applications in these cutting-edge technologies.

Epilepsy Ireland Training

The team also participated in an online training session with Epilepsy Ireland, focusing on Epilepsy Awareness. This training is crucial for professionals who support people with epilepsy, ensuring they are well-equipped to manage seizures and provide necessary care.

TBEX Europe

The month concluded with the team traveling to San Sebastián in northern Spain for TBEX Europe. This conference, designed for travel bloggers and content creators, was a fantastic opportunity to network with like-minded individuals and explore the beautiful Basque Country. Highlights included the stunning scenery, delicious Pintxos, and the announcement that the next European TBEX will be held in Donegal, Ireland, in September 2025.
