What Did We Do This Month? – October 2024

October was a busy month for TravelMedia.ie, packed with events, trips and networking. Here’s a recap of the month’s highlights:

Berlin Wall 35th Anniversary Celebration
Travelmedia.ie hosted an evening with Visit Berlin and the German National Tourist Office at The Blind Pig Speakeasy in Dublin, marking the 35th anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall. Nicole Thorpe from the German National Tourist Office and Catarina Erceg from Visit Berlin joined us to reflect on this significant moment in history. Guests enjoyed traditional German cuisine, Berlin-themed cocktails, and jazz music, capturing the essence of Berlin. We concluded the evening with Berlinerluft schnapps, leaving everyone with a taste of Berlin’s spirit.

Nantes Press Trip
Irish Media Laura Fitzachary (@seekthehistoric), Gemma Tipton from The Irish Times, and Kevin Gleeson from The Daily Mail had the opportunity to take a 4 day press trip to Nantes. They explored Nantes’ cultural and culinary delights, sharing their experiences on social media and in print. Barbados Food and Rum Festival
Content creator Eadaoin Fitzmaurice and Darina Coffey from TheTaste.ie attended the Food and Rum Festival in Barbados, showcasing the island’s vibrant food scene. From rum tastings to Caribbean cuisine, the trip brought the flavors of Barbados to life. Follow their social media for a peek at the event.

Portuguese Wine Fair in Dublin
On October 7th, Michael joined Carlos Oliveira from the Portuguese Tourist Board at the Portuguese Wine Fair at Fallon & Byrne, sampling a selection of wines that brought the flavours of Portugal to Dublin.

Barbados Hotel Reps Meeting in London
Michael attended the BMTI Quarterly Hotel Reps Meeting in London, connecting with hotel representatives to discuss travel trends and upcoming highlights for Barbados.

ITAA Conference in Almería, Spain
Susan and Michael attended This year’s Irish Travel Agents Association (ITAA) conference which took place in Almería, Spain, under the theme “RISE,” symbolizing resilience in the travel industry. ITAA President Angela Walsh delivered an inspiring address, and attendees explored Almería’s natural beauty and agro-tourism, including Cabo de Gata and local greenhouses.

Celebrating Kia’s Birthday at Newbridge Silverware
We celebrated Kia’s birthday with lunch and cake at Newbridge Silverware. It was a great opportunity to gather with the Newbridge Silverware team, discuss plans, and enjoy some sweet treats.

HRBR Dermatology Evening at Samson House
Michael and Leslie attended an HRBR dermatology evening at Samson House, capturing key moments on film. The event offered insights into dermatology advancements and showcased HRBR’s expertise.

Hotel Visit at Molina Lario, Malaga
Michael visited the Hotel Molina Lario in Malaga to explore the hotel further. He met with the management team and reviewed the property’s offerings, discussing opportunities for the year ahead.

The team gathered at Matt the Thresher for a brainstorming session, generating fresh ideas for upcoming projects. This productive meeting sparked new ideas for the team to begin working on. Shaun even tried his first oyster ! See his reveiew over on TikTok
