After a hectic summer, August was a slightly quieter month for the TravelMedia.ie team, at least on the surface. Trust us when we say preparation for Autumn, Winter, and 2024 is well underway. Here’s our highlights for August!
Raluca jets off to Barbados for Crop Over 2023
Our social media queen, Raluca and Cheryl Carter, Director BTMI UK were delighted to host media from the UK and Irish market offering them a true Bajan experience in the height of the Crop Over Festival 2023.
The Crop Over summer festival is Barbados’ most popular and colourful festival. Its origins can be traced back to the 1780’s, a time when Barbados was the world’s largest producer of sugar. At the end of the sugar season, there was always a huge celebration to mark the culmination of another successful sugar cane harvest – the Crop Over celebration.
Amidst the infectious rhythms of Bajan soca, the mesmerizing colours of costumes at Grand Kadooment, and the electrifying atmosphere, the group was presented with the cultural richness and sheer joy that Crop Over brings to the heart of Barbados. The media delegation included The Irish Daily Star, The Sun, Belfast Telegraph, The Voice UK, and influencer Chiara King. It was an absolute delight to witness everyone immerse themselves in the festivities from breakfast parties and live concerts to parading on Grand Kadooment day, capturing the essence of this cherished tradition. As can be seen in the following photographs, ‘a grand time’ was definitely had.
Michael takes some time off
After an enjoyable but hectic summer, Michael took some well-deserved time off at the start of the month, using the opportunity to spend time with family and relax ahead of what promises to be a busy end of the year. And with travelling being such a big part of the job description, Michael stuck to his golden rule when it comes to his holidays, no airports.
See you in September!
Well, that was all really. We told you it was a quiet month. But with September upon us, you can guarantee things are about to pick back up. See you soon!
