Don’t Miss These 5 Barbados Events Before 2025

While we’re already halfway through 2024, things in Barbados are only getting started. There is so much to see and do before we welcome a new year. Here are just 5 events not to miss in Barbados before the end of the year.

Crop Over 2024 – July & August

The remainder of 2024 commences with the ultimate celebration of Bajan culture, Crop Over. The annual festival that marks the end of the sugar cane season has become famous the world over for colourful outfits, free flowing rum, non-stop soca parties and its all-round vibes. If you decide to head down for 2024, make sure you are there for Grand Kadooment Day, which takes places on Monday, August 5th, the last official day of Crop Over, where Bajans take to the streets in breathtaking sequined costumes and dance all day long as part of the final parade.

Divefest 2024 – August

Divefest 2024 promises an exhilarating celebration of Barbados’ vibrant marine life and rich diving culture. Taking place August 18th – 24th, the event will offer a diverse array of activities catering to both novice and seasoned divers. Attendees can look forward to guided dives in some of the Caribbean’s most pristine waters, interactive workshops on marine conservation, and exciting underwater photography competitions. The festival aims to foster a greater appreciation for the ocean’s ecosystems while promoting sustainable diving practices. Barbados Ninja Throwdown – August

Known for its challenging and exhilarating courses, Barbados Ninja Throwdown draws competitors from across the Caribbean and beyond, eager to test their physical endurance, agility, and mental toughness. Participants navigate a series of demanding obstacles that include climbing walls, swinging ropes, balance beams, and water challenges, all set against the picturesque backdrop of the island’s natural beauty. The event not only promotes fitness and healthy competition but also fosters a sense of community and camaraderie among athletes and spectators alike. This year’s event takes place August 24th – 25th.

Food and Rum Festival 2024 – October

This is one for all the foodies out there. Barbados is well known as the Culinary Capital of the Caribbean, and the most notable display of the cooking prowess is the annual Food and Rum Festival. Food and Rum brings together Michelin star chefs and award-winning mixologists from the world over and joins them up with Barbados’ top culinary stars for a weekend of delicious food and even more delicious rum. This year’s festival takes place October 24th – 27th, with tickets going on sale from July 19th. Don’t miss out and book your place!

Run Barbados 2024 – December

Yes, we know you might be thinking it’s supposed to say Rum Barbados. But before you drink some of the sweet spirit that Barbados is home to, why not stretch the legs at Run Barbados. Taking place December 6th – 8th, the annual marathon weekend is back for another year and it’s 41st instalment overall. Run Barbados is the biggest marathon in the Caribbean, but don’t worry, we’re not expecting you to run a full marathon just for a sip of a rum sour. There are events for every level including a fun mile, 5km race, 10km walk, 10km race, half-marathon, and the full marathon. Whatever event you choose, you will be treated to breathtaking views of the island’s east coast that will stay with you for a long time.
