Press release date: 25th June 2019
Where do I begin?
First things first – you’ll need to sort out your flights, transfers and accommodation.
Luckily, these are included with all Crystal Ski holidays so the only major decision you’ll need to make is when and where you’d like to go.
Keep an eye out for Crystal Ski’s first-time ski packs which have all the essentials included such as ski/board and boot hire, lift passes and lessons.
Where should I stay when skiing?
There are plenty of options regarding accommodation, the main three being Chalets, Apartments and Hotels.
Chalets are relaxed and sociable, and the host will prepare your breakfast, afternoon tea and evening meals so you can make the most of your mountain time.
If you like flexibility and your own space, an apartment is the accommodation for you. Hotels have restaurants and leisure facilities and you can choose to go half board or full board, depending on which meals you want included.
Do I need lessons to ski?
Even if your heading away with veteran skiers, always get lessons for your first time on the slopes. This means you’ll be with an instructor and in a group with people on the same level as you making every mistake made a learning curve.
What is there to do on the slopes?
There’s plenty to get up to when you’re not skiing. Lots of resorts have relaxing spas and swimming pools – or you can choose to stay somewhere with them all onsite.
On top of this, there are always lots of fun ways to explore, like walking winter trails in snowshoes and speeding through the snow on a snowmobile.
What do I need to buy for skiing?
Hiring your skis or board, boots and helmet is best on your first trip. You can include these ‘extras’ in your holiday booking with Crystal Ski and pick them up when you get there – it’s as simple as that.
As for what to pack, you’ll need a ski jacket and salopettes (aka snow pants), ski gloves, and goggles or sunglasses to ski in. Plus, ski socks and layers – thermals and a microfleece are a winning combo.
What is Aprés ski?
After a day on the mountain, it’s time to let your hair down, have some fun and meet new people at après ski.
Whether you want to dance on tables or wrap your hands around a hot chocolate, there’s something to suit every adventurer following a day of skiing.
